Despite some of the excitement about road riders being included in the 20th anniversary celebrations, some of us still ride ‘thin wheeled bikes’ and as a change from the run round the Vale of Belvoir decided to do the Marmotte.
This is ‘the daddy’ of the French sportive rides, including four of the major named alpine climbs, the Col du Croix de Fer/Glandon, the Col du Telegraph, the Col du Galibier and the Alpe d’Huez. Total distance about 110 miles but more importantly including 5000 meters (16,000 feet) of climbing.

It saddens me to say this but the KTM-POD team is officially over, and as of last week, there is no longer a UK importer. I enjoyed riding for a pretty cool company on a rapid bike, run by a mate, alongside a mate.

Last year at Crow Hill, I blew, had the worst race of the year and didn;t really like it. It's odd cos its similar to Sherwood, which I normally do well on.
Well, this time, I blew, my head was boiling and I was riding around at a speed I go faster than on my recovery rides. I had zero power. Only 31 of us entered it. I thought before maybe my 1st top 10. No chance.

Hanchurch woods near Stoke is like sherwood on a hill. Since Margham I have drunk a lot, been to Fort William, drunk some more, and done the sherwood tt. I expected a kicking. But the human body is a funny thing.
