Last year The Viking Challenge was wet and very muddy. This year it was obvious before we started that it was going to be the total opposite. The Indian Summer made it hot and dusty :)

Dusty is the word that best describes last nights ride. It's not often you get to say that in the UK in the last week of September! Six of us rode from The Fox and Hounds as the sun set with Baz leading us towards Cauldwell Dam.

Saturday afternoon saw me once again select the Ibis from the shed and head over to Nottinghamshire. There were half a dozen of us out on mountain bikes and nearly as many riding the darkside.

I didn't fancy a lone night ride on the local trails so last Thursday I headed over to Notts to do the regular night ride for the first time in ages. As I had finally got my Ibis back from 2Pure (long story that I won't include here) and had fitted a new MRP 2x chain device to it so I was also riding full suspension for the first time in ages too.

It had been ages since we have ridden The Belvoir Loop so on Saturday I suggested it as an afternoon ride. Ricky and Steve were up for it so we gathered at mine for the relatively short drive to Stathern.
The weather forecast was showers and as we got the bikes out of the cars outside The Red Lion a few spots hit us despite us being bathed in warm sunlight. It wasn't much but we decided to bung waterproofs in our Camelbaks for the ride.
