Twelve people were out for this week's foray into the Nottinghamshire woods. The Saturday ride is always a bit more "social" than others with room for more mixed abilities. "Why aye" Chris was well off the pace of everyone else from the off this week. He hasn't been out much for ages and still has the worry from a nasty shoulder injury which has him wearing body armour even for steady XC like this. As we kept stopping to re-group it gave me chance to whip the camera out now and then to try to get a few shots.

Early on the sun made a rare appearence but at this time of year it doesn't hang about long so light wasn't really good for photography most of the ride. The trails were fairly damp in places making the going slightly harder work than it has been recently but most of the good singletrack was still relatively fast.

This was the first time since the solstice that I noticed the days were getting longer. Maybe because of the very nice sunset while we were still in the woods. Unfortunately towards the end of the ride we lost "Why Aye" Chris and Andy Smith who was staying back to shepard him. We were out for about two and a half hours total before retiring to the pub. Everyone was commenting what a good ride it was as we enjoyed a pint.
